Michael Bell
Bell's solo exhibition features various artworks created over a span of 14 years, from 2010-2024. Subjects include visions of Hell, smoking monkeys and dogs in shopping trolleys. This is not to be missed!
Michael Bell is a Newcastle based artist. He has been creating and exhibiting his artwork for over 45 years, and has held 29 solo exhibitions and participated in over 300 group shows.
Michael has been selected twice as a finalist in The Archibald Prize and five times in The Sulman Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney.
In 2007 and in 2011, Michael was awarded The Cite Internationale des Arts visual artist studio in Paris, France.
In 2018 and again in 2024, Michael participated in the Hua Hin Contemporary International Artist Residency in Thailand, with 11 other international visual artists.
In 2024, Pacc Gallery, Cessnock hosted a 30 year retrospective exhibition of Bell's artworks.
Michael's artwork is held in many prestigious collections, including The Australian National Gallery Canberra, The National Library of Australia Canberra, Newcastle Art Gallery, Muswellbrook Art Gallery, Maitland Regional Art Gallery and Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery.
His artwork is also in many private collections across Australia, the UK, Norway, Ireland and Thailand.
