Fiona Lee

Fiona Lee is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Elands, NSW on Biripi Country. She explores our post-nature reality through her sculptural and digital installations, which reflect the profound transformations in the environment caused by human activity.

In her exhibition Future Critical, Fiona deliberately incorporates visual and auditory disruptions to mirror the political inertia that enables ecosystem destruction and climate change. This exhibition stems from Fiona's solastalgic experience following the 2019-2020 bushfires and the ongoing logging of nearby forests.

These experiences drive Fiona to uncover obscured truths and societal responsibilities within our political landscape. Her exhibition challenges the consequences of exceeding ecological limits and the relentless pursuit of progress, even amidst complex political dynamics. Through her work, Fiona urges us to reconsider the intricate connections between human actions, political decisions, and environmental consequences in the face of unprecedented ecological crises.

We at The Creator Incubator acknowledge that we are meeting and working on the traditional country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and continuing relationship with the land, and that they are the proud survivors of more than two hundred years of dispossession - land never ceded.
