Sally McDonald
Sally McDonald is a contemporary abstract landscape artist. She primarily works with acrylic, oil sticks, ink and mixed media to create layered, atmospheric, textured works. An intuitive painter, the Australian landscape is an ever-present inspiration for her work. McDonald uses the repetitious blending and blurring of layers to help reshape and abstract the landscape into her idiosyncratic and distinctive sense of order.
The ocean, estuaries and forests of the New South Wales eastern coast are ever-present in her work and are a constant inspiration. Terrestrial perspectives of lineal geological seams then overlaid with a topographical (bird’s-eye) view is a current theme in Sally’s practice.
